Mercedes Benz is racing ahead of rivals in Goa’s luxury car market, finds out Team B&C
The automobile industry in Goa is facing slow increase in sales however luxury car Mercedes Benz is fared well. Mercedes posted 52 per cent growth in sales in Goa market during the first three quarters of this year, said Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
Down for a brief visit Folger said that consumers in Goa showed a strong preference for Mercedes brand and customer response is expected to get stronger after the LuxeDrive event held by the company.
A two-day Mercedes LuxeDrive was organized at Verna. The event is an amalgamation of adrenaline, gourmet and haute couture to the car lover. It brings an enthralling experience of adrenaline and excitement to customers. Luxedrive’s are being held in several cities and in Goa Michelin star Chef Vikas Khanna was a special guest. The occasion gives an unique opportunity to buyers to test drive the vehicle of their choice. It also offers other services such as vehicle evaluation, trade-in and personalized finance, said company officials. Goa is an emerging potential market with increase in affluent customer base, said Folger. Dealer Aakash Khaunte, managing director, Counto Motors added that Goa is one of the fastest growing markets for Mercedes-Benz and the dealership is seen its customer base increasing substantially in the last few years.
The Mercedes-Benz production facility in India is located in Chakan near Pune. It is among the fastest green-field operations ever to be created and is rated among the topmost assembly plants of Mercedes-Benz globally. Since June 2015 Mercedes-Benz India also commenced production from its new expanded production facility located in the same premises. The production facility now carries an investment of Rs 1000 plus crores and has the largest installed production capacity for any luxury car maker in India.
The luxury car product portfolio in India comprises locally produced Mercedes-Maybach S 500, S-Class, E-Class, C-Class, CLA sedans and the GLA, GL-Class and the M-Class SUVs. Completely built imported cars portfolio includes the A-Class, B-Class, CLS, SLK, E-Class Cabriolet, S-Class Coupé, the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 and the S 600 Guard.
The year 2015 is declared as the year of ‘Live the Best’ which is based on the brand philosophy of ‘Best or Nothing’. The growth strategy is built on five key initiatives with an aim to provide nothing but the best to customers. At the all-India level Mercedes-Benz continued with its strong sales performance as it registered its highest ever Jan-Sep sales in 2015 with robust 34 per cent growth. Altogether 10,079 cars were delivered to customers in the period.
