Goa College of Home Science holds exhibition on animal kingdom

Goa College of Home Science, Campal invited Kenan Carmo Savio Vaz to hold a one-day exhibition on preserved animal specimens titled ‘Our Animal Kingdom’ on the college premises.

Vaz, an FYBSc student from the department of biotechnology at Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Miramar, is a zoology enthusiast who has been collecting and preserving animal specimens since he was in class eight. A total of 53 specimens from his collection named ‘Little Giants from Kenan’s Backyard’ were the focal point of the exhibition.

The display included snakes, house lizard, frogs, fish, starfish, centipede and insects like cockroaches, butterflies, moths, grasshoppers, dragonfly, weevils, borers, etc. Kenan spoke about the specimens and the life cycles of ants, wasps, cockroaches and the tiger moth butterfly. He also used videos depicting the actual life cycle which he filmed himself.
