Sesa FA rally to hold St Christopher

TIVIM: Sesa Football Academy played gallantly to come back from a two-goal deficit and hold St Christopher SC, Tivim to a 2-2 draw in the GFA’s U-14 League match played at Tivim grounds, on Monday.Nayeen Shaikh struck as early as in the second minute of the match to give St Christopher the lead. Crossing over, St Christopher doubled the lead in the 48th minute through Laxman Malvankar.  Despite being 0-2 down, Sesa FA colts did not give up and came back strongly as they struck two late goals through Jeff Dias and Joyston Rodrigues and share a point with Tivim colts.

 

St Anthony’s SC, Assolda reach quarterfinals

MAJORDA: St Anthony’s SC, Assolda entered the quarterfinals of 19th Fr Basilio Andrade  Memorial football tournament defeating Navelim Sporting Club 2-1, at Musson grounds, Majorda on Monday. Navelim SC went into the lead in the 10th minute through Sheldon Peixote and maintained the slender lead till the half time. Crossing over, St Anthony’s SC, Assolda restored parity through Joyton Fernandes in the 40th minute and seven minutes got the match-winner from the boots of Welson Fernandes.

 

Deepraj Gaonkar to lead Goa U-23 against Odisha

PORVORIM: Deepraj Gaonkar has been named the captain of Goa U-23 team for game against Odisha, which will be played from November 14 to 17 at Sanguem. Following is the team: Deepraj Gaonkar (C), Shubham Desai, Vaibhav Govekar, Ishan Gadekar, Achit Shigwan, Kashyap Bakhale, Tunish Sawkar, Aditya Suryavanshi (wicketkeeper), Vedant Naik, Sachin Bukkam, Dheeraj Yadav, Heramb Parab, Nehal Surlekar, Ajay Kewat and Sankesh Bhagat.

 

Forca Goa Foundation hold football festival

PANAJI: Forca Goa Foundation and Special Olympics Bharat jointly conducted an educational football festival for 125 special athletes at St Xavier’s Academy for Special Students, Old Goa, states the press release issued by FC Goa Mediadesk. The festival saw athletes from 14 schools participate in short duration matches and football based activities under the watchful eyes of the grassroots coaches from the Forca Goa Foundation, adds the press release.

 

Shuttler Aashrun, Lydia, Sushil, Arjun emerge victors

PEDDEM: The State Junior Badminton championships 2018 concluded at Peddem Sports Complex with Aashrun Gautam, Lydia Barreto, Sushil Nayak and Arjun Fallary emerging as major winners. Aashrun and Sushil won double crowns each while it was triple glory for Lydia Barreto and Arjun Fallary. Yash Kunkolienker, Yasmin Sayed, Aryaman Saraf and Chetan Magdum settled for runners-up places. In U-19 boys singles, Aashrun Gautam prevailed over Sushil Nayak 21-14, 21-19. In U-19 girls singles event, Lydia Barreto beat Yasmin Sayed 21-19, 22-20. Sushil Nayak emerged U-17 boys singles winner with a 21-11, 21-17 win over Rudra Dukle while in U-17 girls singles final, Lydia repeated her feat with a 21-11, 21-17 win over Yasmin Sayed. In U- 19 mixed doubles, Arjun Fallary and Lydia Barreto got past Sushil Nayak and Yasmin Sayed 21-19, 21-17. Arjun Fallary and Sushil Nayak won U- 17 boys doubles title, ousting Aryaman Saraf  and Chetan Magdum 21-10, 21-15. In U-19 boys doubles, Aashrun Gautam/Arjun Fallary upstaged Yash Kunkolienker/Sushil Nayak 21-23, 21-15, 21-17.
