Yash Fadte reaches Mumbai Squash finals

PANAJI: Goa’s Yash Fadte made it to the final of the 3rd Indian Classic Open Squash Championship defeating No 2 seed Rahul Bhatia of Maharashtra 3-2 in the semifinals played at Bombay Gymkhana, Mumbai. Earlier in the quarterfinals, the 16-year-old Goan defeated Mumbai’s Raunak Advani 3-0 while in the pre-quarters he beat Gautam Karthik of Chennai 3-0. Yash will take on Chaitanya Shah (Mumbai) in the finals, which will be played today at 3.30 pm.

 

St Savio’s, St Anthony Marna make it to semis

CALANGUTE: St Savio’s SC blanked Nerul SC 3-0 to reach the semifinals of Late Anthony & Santana Carvalho Memorial Soccer Cup, organised by St Savio’s SC Calangute and played at Poriat grounds, on Tuesday. Domnic Fernandes starred for the winners scoring a brace while Runaal Shirodkar chipped in with a goal. Meanwhile, St Anthony’s SC, Marna-Siolim also reached the semis after a 2-0 win over Goan Warriors FC in the quarterfinal played on Monday. Vasudev Agarwadekar and Dalesh Pednekar were the goalscorers for the winners.

 

FC Goa sign Spaniard Migual Palanca

PANJIM: FC Goa have announced the signing of Spanish left-winger Miguel Palanca. The 30-year-old, who has made over 250 appearances in La Liga (Spain), A-League (Australia), Ekstraklasa (Poland) and Cypriot First Division, will help solidify Gaurs’ attacking style of play, states the press release issued FC Goa. “I am extremely delighted to be signing for FC Goa. The club’s past record in the league and the players who are already there along with the overall project are what attracted me the most and I can’t wait to get started in the ISL,” Palanca was quoted as saying in the communiqué sent by FC Goa.

 

Running race at Chorao today

CHORAO: Madel Yuvak Sangh, on the occasion of Independence Day, is organising an all-Goa running race for below 13 years and above 13 years at Chorao today. The race will start from Madel ferry point at 3 pm. The participants should carry with them their birth certificates.
