A semi-musical production of Jane Austen’s popular and critically-acclaimed novel ‘Pride and Prejudice’ was presented by the teacher trainees of Nirmala Institute of Education recently at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
Directed by Fr Walter D’Souza, this stage production narrated the quest of Mrs Bennet to find the perfect match for her daughters. Construction of props, designing the LED screens, crafting of costumes, choreography, etc has been credited to the teacher trainees themselves. The production was supported by director of Nirmala Institute of Education, Sr Rita Paes; officiating principal, Sr Delia Antao, and English method master Sr Millie Pereira.
Speaking about the performance, vice principal of Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for women, Nuvem, Sr Maria Lizanne said: “The play was well cast from the beginning to the end. The cast acted really well. The message was aptly and clearly conveyed,” While student from Goa University, Swinburne Fernandes stated, “The students had committed to the redemptive and transformative nature of love and goodness of human nature. It was indeed an amalgamation of feelings amplified by the fine performances of the students. A must watch for every age.”
