Department of Commerce of Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim organised its fifth edition of the one-day inter-collegiate National Level event ‘Insignia 5.0’. The event was held with the aim to give under-graduate commerce students an opportunity to showcase their talents and practically apply theoretical knowledge. The event was inaugurated by principal of SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Radhika Nayak; principal of Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Fr Simao Diniz; associate professor, Helic Barreto; vice principal, Juao Costa and student event coordinator, Alfiya Banu.
In his address Fr Diniz welcomed the eight participating colleges and urged them to make the best of the event, and learn from each other and develop leadership qualities in them.
Chief guest Radhika Nayak mentioned that Rosary College is one of the best colleges that strives hard to do things creatively and differently in style, under the leadership of Fr Diniz. Nayak also elaborated on the importance of such inter-collegiate events which act as a platform to test the leadership, critical thinking, analytical thinking, and creative and reasoning skills of the students.
Insignia 5.0 had 10 competitions, namely, Intromission, Retro- Revolution, Face it or Fake it, Happy feet, Start Smart, Facts and Figures, Ad-Selfie, Make-Over, I-Design and Movieland. Judges were academicians and industry professionals.
Chief guest for the valedictory function was principal of Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science Autonomous, Nandkumar Sawant. In his address Sawant congratulated the teams for their participation and team spirit and stressed on the importance of values in life, and that understanding one’s worth helps to live a happy life.
Winners of Insignia 5.0 were Fr Agnel College Of Arts And Commerce, Pilar. Besides being overall winners, the students also secured three first places, one second place and two third places in individual sub events. The first runners-up position was won by St Xavier’s College, Mapusa while the second runners-up were Sridora Caculo College of Commerce and Management Studies, Mapusa. Prizes were presented at the hands of Nandkumar Sawant.
