Pruning of trees within the jurisdiction of Margao Municipal Council (MMC) could be delayed as the department of forest has to give its nod for the same even though such work is sought through the district disaster management authority.
Sources informed that the office of the deputy collector has forwarded the civic council’s report that has sought attention to trimming of overgrown trees that are posing danger to human life.
The MMC has sent a ward-wise detailed report on trimming of trees to the deputy collector’s office.
“We forwarded the report to the office of the deputy collector last week and are awaiting permission to undertake trimming of the trees before the monsoon sets in,” stated the civic chairperson Babita Prabhudesai.
Deputy collector Uday Prabhudesai said that the MMC has sent a report highlighting the ward-wise requirement for trimming of trees.
“We have forwarded it to the department of forest for
carrying out inspection of the trees that have been identified by the MMC. We
will give permission to the MMC only after we get a clearance from
the forest department,” informed the deputy c
By the time the forest officials carry out inspection of each of the identified trees and give the nod, there is every possibility that monsoon could set in, thereby only increasing problems of the MMC.
