Crime Branch police claimed to have busted a flesh trade racket that was allegedly operated with the help of motorcycle taxi pilots.
The police informed that they have arrested a motorcycle taxi pilot Mustaq Hussain (32) from Margao and Mangala alias Anita Kuradkar (36), who was reportedly keeping victim girls in her rented room at Fatorda, Margao. The police have also rescued two victim women in connection with the case.
The police said that the investigation revealed that the flesh trade racket is operated by two accused Basu and Manoj Kumar Singh, both absconding. The accused had reportedly engaged motorcycle pilots from Margao area to deliver women to customer’s informed the police adding that they are in process of identifying the other motorcycle taxi pilots who are said to be involved in the racket.
According to the information, a couple of days back the crime branch police team headed by PI Rahul Parab conducted raid near a hotel in Neugi Nagar, Panaji, wherein one victim woman was rescued and the accused motorcycle pilot Hussain was arrested.
Further, during the course of investigation, the police searched a rented room in Fatorda, Margao wherein another victim woman was rescued.
In this connection, Mangala alias Anita Kuradkar was arrested on Thursday.
Kuradkar was keeping the victim women in the rented room, informed the police.
Police are on the lookout for Basu and Manoj Kumar Singh.
Meanwhile, in connection with another prostitution racket that was busted earlier this month, one of the absconding accused Shyam Bharati surrendered before the Crime Branch police on Friday.
It may be recalled that the Crime Branch police had busted a prostitution racket that was operated under the garb of massage parlor, at a resort in Arpora, Bardez. 6 victim girls were rescued while three accused were arrested.
