The GCCI women’s wing recently organized a program on financial literacy for women. It focused on imparting financial skills to manage personal and household finances along with entrepreneurial activities. Jennifer Kamat, chairperson, women’s wing welcomed the gathering. The key speakers for the event were Swatee Rane, chartered accountant, Garima Vasudeva, company secretary and Geeta Joshi, directorate of industries, trade and commerce, Goa. Rane spoke on the basics of accounting and ways to handle finances. She also conducted an interactive session with the participants where the audience was divided into groups to understand the nuances of accounting. To educate the women on financial matters Vasudeva explained the different forms of ownership aided with examples. Apart from that she also touched upon licenses, compliances and other requirements of incorporation of new business entities. The program was co ordinated by member Pallavi Salgaocar and vote of thanks was by Colleen Sequeira. Bank of Baroda and Desserts N More were sponsors for the event.
