Acting on a complaint that  ‘dog meat is used  in  place of normal meat in the preparation of food items being served,’ officials of the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), on Thursday morning, raided Bomra’s, a Burmese restaurant, at Candolim.

Speaking to ‘The Navhind Times,’ Health Minister Vishwajit Rane confirmed that upon receiving a complaint, the FDA officials conducted the raid at Bomra’s at Candolim, and the officials have drawn samples of food items. Rane said that the FDA will submit its

detailed report to him on Friday regarding the raid and test report of food samples.

“We received the complaint that the particular restaurant was serving dog meat to customers. Accordingly, the FDA took action by conducting raid on the particular restaurant. The food samples have also been drawn. Once I receive detailed report, further action will be initiated against the restaurant owner,” he added.

It is learnt that some visitors to the restaurant  suspected that the meat that was served to them to be of dog and not the normal meat, and so  complained about it to the Health Minister and FDA.
