MARGAO: Three members of a family comprising of father, mother and son, believed to be from Bengaluru, committed suicide on Sunday morning at an isolated place at Fatrade, Varca in Salcete taluka. Their bodies were found hanging from a tree in the isolated area, said police. The Colva police said that the bodies have been sent to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) at Bambolim for post-mortem examination.
According to the police, the father was aged 60, while the mother was 52 years old and the son was 25. The motive behind the suicide by the family is not yet known. No suicide note was found at the spot, said police, who, however, found a small chit at the spot on which the name of a village in Karnataka was mentioned. Police are yet to identify the deceased.
Police said that a person discovered the bodies hanging from the tree and informed the Colva police. Police sub-inspector Tulsidas Naik and his team rushed to the spot and after conducting the panchanama sent the bodies to the GMC. Further investigation into the case is in progress, said police.
