Fashion goes green

Meher Castelino

When fashion follows the green path it helps not only the environment but also the farmers who grow the cotton, the weavers, designers and the buyers. The Green Fashion India Conference 2018 held in Goa in October, an initiative of the Maharishi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha’s (MKSSS) School of Fashion Technology (SOFT) Pune, was a feast for the eyes when it came to fashion highlighting not only natural fabrics like Khadi and pure cotton but also showed how upcycling, recycling and reusing can turn into a fashion statement.

International designers Philippe Werhahn from Germany and Swati Argade from New York brought their green fashion offerings with various brands. Hemang Agrawal from Varanasi, Karishma Shahani Khan and Sujata Tokey from Pune, Ninoshka Alvares from Goa, Uma Prajapati from Auroville and Rajesh Pratap Singh from New Delhi each presented amazing collections that showcased the beauty of fashion, which is not only sustainable on all fronts but is creatively, stylish and trendy for the most fastidious buyers.
