PANAJI: Hours before the president of Goa Forward Party and Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai addressed a press conference in Margao to clear party’s stand on the Mhadei issue, Water Resources Minister Vinod Palyekar posted a message on Twitter to make his and his party’s stand clear on the Mhadei issue.
He wrote “Our @ Goaforwardparty & my WRD depts stand remains unchanged on #Mhadei. We are committed to protect our mother #Mhadei & protect each drop of water. We are committed to protect Goem Goemkar Goemkarponn to take #GoaForward.”
Later reacting to Sardesai’s statement that the GFP will give up water resources portfolio if Goa government exceeds limit of giving Mhadei water to Karnataka, Palyekar again posted a message on Twitter that, “First Comes Goem Goemkar Goemkarponn for us. GFP won’t be party to the sell out Goa.”
Even though Palyekar posted his views on Twitter, he stayed away from direct interaction with the media. He did not attend the press conference which was held by Sardesai in Margao and the press conference held by party spokesperson Trajano D’Mello in Panaji later in the evening.
