Minister of Art and Culture, Govind Gaude on Friday announced major events and competitions that have been chalked out to be held in Kala Academy from June 2018 to March 2019. While the programme schedule has been finalised and there will be no change in dates, the competition schedule could have a few changes. Throughout the year a number of programmes will be held in different categories.
Theatre/drama competitions and festivals
Marathi Drama ‘B’ Group Competition will be held from October 1 to October 26 at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali; Bal Natya Mahotsav on November 11 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji;
Marathi Drama ‘A’ Group Competition from December 10 to January 16, 2019 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji; One Act Play Competition (High School Level) from December 10 to December 21 at Rajiv Kala Mandir, Ponda; One Act Play Competition (Hr. Sec. & College Level) from January 28, 2019 to February 4, 2019 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji; Sangeet Natak Mahotsav from February 5 to 18th February, 2019 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji and Konkani Drama Competition from 19 February to March 29, 2019 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji.
Tiatr ‘B’ Group Competition will be held from July 16 to August 29 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao; Tiatr ‘A’ Group Competition from September 3 to September 27 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji.
Music and dance festivals
Pt Jitendra Abhisheki Sangeet Mahotsav in collaboration with Taragini Pratishthan will be held on September 29 and 30; Yuva Pratibhotsav- National Level Festival of young performers on October 20 and 21; Pravah – Festival of Classical Dances in collaboration with India International Rural Cultural Centre, New Delhi on October 27 and 28; 38th Surashree Kesarbai Kerkar Sangeet Samroha on November 2, 3 and 4; 2nd Gaansaraswati Kishoritai Amonkar Sangeet Mahotsav January 5 and 6; Nupur 25 Classical Dance Festival in collaboration with West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur and Shree Mahalsa Saunstha, Mardol on 11,12 and 13, January and Paschim Rang – Festival of Western Classical and Jazz Music on February 2 and 3. All these festivals will be held at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji.
Fine art and Visual art
State Art Exhibition (Artist Category) will be held from October 29 to November 4; children drawing competition (Regional/Taluka Level) on November 26 at Regional Centres at various talukas; children drawing Competition (State Level) on December 2 at Kala Academy Complex, Panaji; exhibition of works from the artists camp from February 5 and 10 at Art Gallery, Kala Academy Complex and State Art Exhibition (Student Category) on March 7 and 12 at Art Gallery, Kala Academy Complex.
Folk and Traditional Art
State Level Bhajan Competition (Children Category) will be held on August 5 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji; State Level Bhajan Competition (Ladies Category) on August 12 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji; State Level Bhajan Competition (Gents Category) on August 15 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji; Pitu Bhakticha Dangora-Programme of Prize Winning Bhajan Groups from August 29 to September 2 at Maharashtra, Karnataka; Cantaram Singing Competition on October 13 and 14 at Black Box;
Dindi Competition on November 17 and 18 at Regional Centres; Bal Yuva Kirtan Competition on November 25 at Regional Centre; State Level Folk Art Competition on January 13, 2019 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji and 38th State Level Kirtan Mahotsav on January 20, 2019 at Regional Centres.
Other important activities
State Level Choir/Hymns Singing Competition will be held on September 22 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir (DMKM), Panaji and Festival of Carols on December 9 at Open Air Auditorium.
Functions and celebrations related to Theatre Arts
Gomant Rang Bhoomi Din celebration on July 11 at Black Box/DMKM and World Theatre Day on March 27, 2019 at DMKM.
