Enlightening speeches at this year’s DD Kosambi Festival of Ideas

The eleventh edition of DD Kosambi Festival of Ideas will be held from February 13 to February 16 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy. NT BUZZ details more about the event


The DD Kosambi Festival of Ideas is one of the oldest and most awaited events that serves as a platform for sharing creative and innovative ideas. Intellectuals, academics, student community, business class sector etc, wait eagerly for the four-day festival. This year the event organised by Directorate of Art and Culture as a dedication to Damodar Dharmanand Kosambi – a historian, mathematician and acknowledged polymath, will present speakers from various fields such as science and technology, art and culture, literature and others.

The inaugural of the festival will take place on February 13 at 5 p.m. at Kala Academy, Panaji and will be followed by a talk by novelist, playwright, Makarand Sathe at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the topic ‘Nationalism, Culture and Theatre: In the times of Globalisation’.

Speaking during a press conference on Friday, Director of art and culture, Gurudas Pilarnekar said: “This year we have only four speakers and they will be giving an insight into various aspects of life. On the second day of the festival February 14 there will be a talk by science educator, entrepreneur and curator, Jaya Ramchandani on ‘The paradox of learning in the 21st Century’ from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.”

Founder of Cobra Beer and chairman of Cobra beer partnership limited, Lord Karan Bilimoira will talk about ‘A Parsi’s view on the future of India, UK and EU relations in the context of Brexit’ on February 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The last day of the event will have a talk by painter, writer and lecture on art, Sudhir Patwardhan who will be speaking about ‘What is today’s art about?’ on February 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  “This event is one of the most awaited events and everyone should avail this opportunity because it helps one understands various issues from different perspective,” concluded Gurudas.
