Eight new patients quarantined at GMC

The state health department has quarantined 14 high risk  who were in contact with trio and their health condition are being monitored by the doctors round the clock.

A total of eight new patients suspected of having coronavirus (COVID-19) have been quarantined at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. 

All eight patients were quarantined on Thursday immediately after they were found showing symptoms of the viral virus. 

Out of 13 samples sent on March 23 seven tested negative while the samples of the three patients who travelled to Goa from Spain, Australia and the US were tested positive on March 25. Remaining reports of three samples are still awaited from the Mumbai based laboratory. 

The health condition of the three persons who tested positive for the dreaded virus on Wednesday are reported to be ‘stable’.

“We have tracked down all high risk people and quarantined at a government facility,” said a senior government official speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’ on Thursday afternoon. 

The official informed that the directorate of health services is currently tracing the co-passengers of the infected person who had travelled with them in the same flight. 

On Thursday 39 passengers have been placed under home quarantine and 23 passengers have been quarantined at government facilities. All these passengers have been put under watch by the DHS soon after their return from different parts of the world. They have not shown any sign and symptoms of the COVID-19.

Health officers are tracking the returnees on a daily basis to see if they are experiencing any symptoms of the deadly virus, such as fever, cough and respiratory distress.  

As per the media bulletin released by the DHS at present as a precautionary measures  44 people who came in contact with positive COVID-19 patients and the patients who are suspected of having the viral virus have been isolated at different government facilities which include six people at TB hospital Margin, two people in North Goa District Hospital and nine in Sub District Hospital Ponda while three in Sub District Hospital in Chicalim and 24 people in Margao Residency.
