Office of Chief Electoral Officer, Altinho-Panaji held voter awareness campaigns on Sunday at Caculo Mall and Inox courtyard.

On the occasion, online and offline promotional materials were released by involving available audience.

Full team from Election Commission office along with state election icons Tapan Acharya, former Indian football team captain Brahmanand Sankhwalkar and Pradeep Naik, nodal officer North Goa Gervasio Mendes, nodal officer from CEO office Isha Sawant and AE RO Varsha Parab and others were also present.

Mendes informed that they had started the campaign over couple of months back to create awareness amongst the young and new voters, challenged citizens, senior citizens and urged them to cast their vote.

It has been noticed that many people on the day of voting go on picnics or tours, visit their relatives etc instead of exercising their constitutional rights, so the team from CEO’s office appealed to the general public to vote on April 23.

Isha Sawant informed that the motive to bring icons at busy spots was that enthusiasts should click selfies with them and post them on facebook and urge their friends, relatives and well-wishers to cast votes adding election officers have been conducting various programmes across the state and had covered almost all the colleges.

Programmes like voter verification and information dissemination on voting were held with stress laid on ethical voting. Door-to-door visits were also held to persuade people to vote.

March 25 is the last day for those people wanting to submit forms for various reasons like rectification of names, checking names in voters’ list and on April 14, a rally will be taken out in each and every constituency from 7.30 am to 8.30 am for which routes will be announced later.
