DSE Felicitation Day was held on the theme ‘Reaching out to the needy through education’. Chief guest for the function was Cesar Menezes, a representative of Maria Cresencia Menezes Memorial Educational Trust and Pascoa and Maria Menezes Benevolence foundation.
The programme began with a prayer dance by students of St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa. On the occasion, Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao along with Cesar gave away prizes and certificates to meritorious students of different DSE schools and colleges.
In his speech the Archbishop spoke about the four pillars of education, namely, learning to know, learning to do, learning to be and learning to live with each other. He also stated that technology is just a tool, the teacher is very important in the field of education. Technology cannot replace the educators. “The teacher has an important role to play in the lives of the students. Pay attention to the less gifted, especially children who have learning disabilities,” added Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao.
Students from different DSE schools and colleges presented a variety of entertainment programmes for the audience. Also present for the function were secretary of DSE, Fr Jesus Rodrigues along with managers, principals, headmasters, teachers, parents and students.
