Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre (DMCRC), Assagao conducted a workshop for its teachers on ‘Exploring New Research Areas in Social Sciences’ to enhance the quality of research work undertaken by its faculty.
Resource person for the workshop was principal of Vidya Prabhodini College, M R Patil who urged participants to shed old ideas of research and venture into emerging areas to produce quality research papers.
While emphasising on standards to be adopted for conducting research, Patil said that researchers should understand the fundamentals behind undertaking research work.
He also told teachers to focus on problems faced by society and explore the areas of parent-child relationship, habits of children, impact of new schemes of the government, financial inclusion, trends in marketing, etc.
Patil later explained about drafting good research titles, its objectives, literature review and field work.
Principal of Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College, D B Arolkar said: “Teachers should stress on new emerging research areas to become pioneers in the field among the peers.” While stating that the college is encouraging teachers to undertake research activities in diverse areas, Arolkar said that quality research will create more knowledge that will empower us to understand the world in a better way.
He also added that the workshop aims at enhance the quality of publication in reputed journals.
Convenor of the research and consultancy cell of the college, Rajesh Pednekar said: “Research serves as a bridge to link higher education to the changing needs of the society.”
