NSS unit of the Government College of Arts Science and Commerce, Quepem organised ‘Divya Dhatri’, a district level cultural programme in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Margao to propogate the idea of national unity, oneness and integration.
On the occasion NSS convenor Kulkarni highlighted the importance of the theme ‘Divya Dhatri’ and its relevance to the youth. He encouraged the youth to participate enthusiastically and exhorted them to spread the message of ‘Unity in Diversity’.
District youth coordinator of Nehru Yuva Kendra and UN volunteer, Tanmay Acharya spoke about Nehru Yuva Kendra and its activities while stressing on the importance of cultural integration in the country. Chief guest of the programme was vice principal, Brijpal Singh Gehlot who appreciated the theme and efforts.
After the inaugural programme NSS volunteers of the college presented cultural programmes. Students presented a popular Konkani medley of Goan folksongs representing local and national cultures simultaneously.
Students performed three mimes on the themes of religious harmony, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana. Tanmay Acharya and Shriram Adpaikar of NYK conducted an interactive session in the form of a ‘neighbourhood parliament’.
The programme emphasised the role of students in bolstering the national identity of the country through cultural diversity.
