Dempo Sports Club trounced Panjim Footballers Sports Club 5-0 in the GFA’s U20 Taca Goa Cup played at Duler Stadium here on Tuesday.
After today’s match Dempo has four points from their three league match while Panjim Footballers has three points from their fourth league match.
Having faced defeat in their last match both teams went all out for the three points and it ended up with Dempo Sports Club saddling themselves comfortably.
Dempo Juniors dominated right from the start and after missing a couple of scoring chances went into the breather with a goal lead.
Early in the match Panjim Footballers keeper Karol Soares managed to block a fierce shot at the first post from Desmon Pereira.
Dempo finally opened their flood gates in the 14th minute when a free kick by Vineet Bugde was guided into the goal by Aaren Alvares, 1-0.
At the half an hour mark, Dempo doubled their lead from a fine combined move initiated by Rayen Pinto who relayed the ball to Desmon who in turn passed it to unmarked Boris De Melo who slotted the ball into the goal, 2-0.
In the very next minute, the Golden Eagles lads fired in their third goal through Boris D’Mello who controlled a through pass from Larryl Mascarenhas and scored his brace, 3-0.
Dempo almost netted their fourth goal but Panjim keeper Karol Soares made back to back saves to keep away Vineet’s shot and then block Desmon’s strike for corner.
However, Desmon Pereira- who was instrumental in two of the goals- got his name listed through a splendid solo effort, 4-0.
The Golden Eagles hunger for goals did not end as they pumped in their fifth goal in the 53rd minute as Edwin Viegas gave finishing touches to Vineet’s free-kick, 5-0.
In the last quarter of the match, the Panjim colts had two chances to pull a goal. In the 66th minute, striker Aman Govekar got hold to a cross from substitute Lloyd Mascarenhas but his lob over the advancing keeper Flezben Souza travelled wide while Abhyuday Sabharwal strike was blocked by keeper Flezben at the first post.
