Dayanand High School, Chodan celebrated National Mathematics Day. The four-day programme consisted of workshops and training.
Students were trained in Vedic Mathematics for three days by coordinator SRS Vedic Mathematics Academy, Ponda, Sagar Sakordekar.
Tutor for competitive exams, Prasad Mahajan introduced students to the use of the abacus while retired mathematics teachers of Mahamaya High School, Mayem, Makarand Kamat had a session on ‘Fun with Mathematics’. On the valedictory day, chief guest for the programme was retired headmaster of Sharada English High School, Marcel, Mohandas Bhagat. In his speech Kamat spoke about the fear that students have towards the subject of mathematics. He urged students to practice maths daily for at least 3/4 hours in order to do well.
President of Chorao Educational Society, Premanand Mahambare informed the gathering that Chorao Educational Society and Dayanand High School is in its Jubilee Year and various programmes will be held all throughout the year. He also urged parents and students to cultivate the habit of reading by purchasing a newspapers and books for their children.
Students wining prizes of the different competitions held were awarded prizes and all students were given participation certificates.
