Starting the game on an attacking note, Davorlim went into the lead in the 11th minute when striker Mabel Miranda raced down the right flank and on receving a neat pass from Paxton Gomes, shot the ball past the bewildered UC Benaulim keeper S D’Silva.
Benaulim retaliated with some quick moves but their strikers bungled as they took shot at the goal.
Benaulim’s medio Nicolas Rodrigues and Roddy Rodrigues were seen stitching brilliant moves in the midfield for quite a well in the first session, but the Benaulim strikers like Cannut Fernandes and Paulin Silva failed to find the mark.
Benaulim, that had a couple of easy chances in the second session repeated their story of missed chances with the strikers unable to get their act together. At one stage, striker M Correa had an easy chance but he could not beat the Davorlim keeper Ashikesh Shetty from close distance.
As the match progressed, Davorlim improved their match by a few notches in the second session and scored two more goals through Velington Rocha and substitute Robinson Colaso.
Davorlim’s medio Velington Rocha who played a good game buttressed the lead for his team through a powerful header when Mabel Miranda sent a smart cross to him. Velington leaped high over the defensive wall of Benaulim to head the ball strongly to the far corner of Benaulim nets, giving no chance to keeper S D’Silva. This came in the 56th minute.
Davorlim continued with their attacking play and scored their third goal in the last minute of play when substitute Robinson Colaso banged the ball into the rival nets off a pass from Paxton Gomes.
Benaulim initially appeared to be eager to find the mark but as the match progressed their moves faded away with Davorlim having complete control of the proceedings to dominate both the sessions of play.
Though the Benaulim team did send some shots at the rival goal, the Davorlim keeper also proved to be a good pair of hands.
The last ditch efforts of Benaulim team trying to pull a goal back proved futile. Davorlim’s Mabel Miranda won the man-of-the–match award for his good performance.
