The Literary Association along with the English Department of D M’s College and Research Centre, Assagao organised an All Goa Inter- Collegiate Elocution Competition. The competition was sponsored by UCO Bank, Mapusa. The chief guest for the event was Meenakshi Mhambre while the guest of honour was Amalesh Tripathi. Jeffery Manuel judged the competition. Principal of D M’s College, D B Arolkar welcomed the gathering. Also present was vice principal Rita Dhukle.
Speaking on the occasion, Meenakshi Mhambre enlightened the audience on various aspects of public speaking, drawing attention to participants’ strengths and weaknesses. She applauded their ability to voice their opinions with poise and confidence. The competition witnessed an overwhelming response with participation from sixteen colleges across Goa. The topics for the competition were: Into that heaven of freedom, let my country awake; Go Goa Gone: Reflections on Today’s Goa; Live Reading or Leave Reading
Damodar M Keny of G R Kare College of Law won first place. The second prize was awarded to Kishor Babu of D M’s College, Assagao and the third place was secured by Yohann Santos of St Xavier’s College, Mapusa. Consolation prizes were awarded to Wencliffe Gray of Salgaonkar College of Law and Vanashree V Sangaonkar of G V M’s G G P R College.
