Union Minister of Science and Technology, and Earth Sciences and former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, who was battling liver cancer, died at a Chennai hospital on Tuesday afternoon. He was flown by air ambulance from Mumbai to Chennai's Global Hospital last week on ventilator support for a liver transplant, but then went through multiple-organ failure. His funeral will take place in the Babhalgaon village in Latur on Wednesday.
