Attributing the recent power outages to consumers overshooting the sanctioned loads, the state electricity department has asked consumers to assess their existing load and apply for regularising the excess power units within the next 30 days.

The department has said the consumption of power units beyond the sanctioned load must be overloading and tripping the power lines and the transformers.

In an advertisement published in newspapers on Wednesday, the department stated: “All consumers are informed to assess their existing load with respect to the sanctioned load and to apply for an increase in (the) load as per

the clause 6.4 of ‘conditions of supply’ in cases where the consumer load has exceeded the sanctioned load. In case the consumer fails to apply for the increase of load within 30 days, the necessary procedure as mentioned in Section 10 (unauthorised use of electricity and theft of electricity) of ‘conditions of supply’ will be initiated.”

The department has directed the consumers to visit the concerned division /subdivision for details.

The consumers can also visit the official website www.goaelectricity.gov.in for ‘conditions of supply’.
