A one day workshop on management of co-operative societies was organized by The Goa State Cooperative Bank (GSCB) for individuals in the co-operative sector. The participants who attended the workshop included office bearers, employees, tax consultants, among others. VB Prabhu Verlekar, chairman, administrative committee, GSCB, hosted the event and briefly outlined the purpose of the workshop.
Briefing on the importance of cooperative Institutions, Daulat Hawaldar, secretary (finance who was the chief guest said, that co-operative bodies play an important role in bringing about overall economic development. Kamakshi Pai, general manager, officer in charge, NABARD, was the guest of honour. She emphasized on the role of NABARD in rural and agriculture development of the state.
During the occasion, a handbook on ‘Management of Co-operative Societies’ was also released. The book is a ready reckoner on issues relating to tax matters concerning co-The workshop had chartered accountants RK Pikale, Parimal Kulkarni and Satyaprakash Kamath addressing participants. Prasad Volvoikar, deputy registrar of Cooperative Societies, spoke on taxation of under the income tax act and GST. The workshop ended with an interactive question- answer session between participants and the lecturers. More than 200 participants from different cooperative societies attended the workshop.
