Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias on Thursday rubbished allegations levelled against him by Cuncolim Municipal Council (CMC) vice chairperson Shashank Desai, and added that he has indeed taken up works in both the municipal and panchayat areas.
Speaking to the media persons in Margao along with his CMC panel including CMC chairperson Lavita Mascarenhas, Dias said that works of over Rs 10 crore have already been tendered.
“Works costing between Rs 10 crore and Rs 15 crore have already been tendered for the municipal and panchayat areas. These works include hotmix carpeting of roads and building of culverts and retaining walls. Three tenders including a Rs 3 crore one in Macazana, Rs 3.40 crore in Guirdolim and Rs 3 crore in Chandor have already been awarded. All the allegations made against me are baseless and it is only a political stunt since the ex-MLA Joaquim Alemao’s son Yuri Alemao has joined the Goa Forward,” said
Pertaining to the work of revamping of the power infrastructure worth Rs 8 crore, the MLA said he has taken up the issue along with the support of the people, and added that the file is awaiting the financial approval.
“On June 2, I had staged a morcha along with the people of my constituency to solve this issue and after that morcha the chief engineer had floated the tender for the work. It has already received administrative approval but is stuck in the finance department for approval. In the next three months, it will be taken up and work is expected to start soon after that,” he said.
Rubbishing the claims that works are being held up as he is in the opposition, Dias said that he may have faced hurdles being in the opposition, but would continue to work for development of his constituency.
