People from different walks of life from Bicholim taluka on Saturday offered their condolences to the 42 jawans killed on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway at Lethipora in Awantipora area of Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Thursday.
Mayem BJP block organised a condolence meeting near Mayem panchayat hall in which Mayem BJP block members paid tributes and condemned the gruesome attack on the soldiers.
At another condolence meeting organised by Bicholim Bachao Abhiyan at Setu Sangam Bicholim, BBA president Naresh Sawal, secretary Naresh Kadkade, Kundan Fogeri, former BMC councillor Yasmin Aga, Bhagwan Harmalkar and others paid tributes by lighting candles in memory of the martyrs.
The Bicholim block Congress committee paid tributes to the martyrs at old bus stand Bicholim in which block president Meghshyam Raut, PCC secretary prof Deelip Dhargalkar, Goa Sewa Dal treasurer Gaznaffar Aga, Youth Congress president Srirang Parab, North Goa Congress committee general secretary Nazir Beg, Manoj Naik and citizens offered their condolences by carrying out a candle march.
Condolence meetings were also organised by citizens from Sankhali on Friday night.
