The Forum for Integrated Development and Research (FIDR) hosted the second roundtable meet in association with Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on June 30. Migration and livelihood was the topic of discussion attended by representatives from mining, tourism industry, litterateurs, senior trade union leaders, entrepreneurs, teachers, lawyers, social workers, activists and citizens. Charudutta Panigrahi, film maker Dharmanand Vernekar, Camilo Fernandes, Puti Gaonkar, president, Goa Mining People’s Front, Prasanna Utagi, president, AITUC, Serafino Cota, Babita Angle, chairperson, Margao Municipal Council, Damodar Mauzo, writer, Prakash Kamat senior journalist were some of the participants at the panel discussion.
The meeting also drew observations from Cleofath Coutinho, advocate, Anant Agni, R K Dnyanmandir, Ravindra Velip, Mahesh Patil and Rishikesh Kadam. Pertinent questions with reference to livelihoods were raised at the meeting by all attendees. This was the second in a series of roundtables intended to cover issues affecting the state. The first roundtable was held in Panjim, a month ago and the next roundtable will be held soon in one of the taluka headquarters.
