CII-Goa, organised a shipbuilding seminar last week widely attended by local industry stakeholders. The aim of the seminar was to showcase the large shipbuilding and ancillary industry capability that exists in the state. Participants highlight the opportunity for the local shipyards in new business and especially as an outsource partner to Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). The seminar’s other aim was to suggest measures to improve the logistics infrastructure and connectivity of the state with the focus on making the manufacturing and transportation process of vessels faster, easier and economical.
The seminar concluded with the local shipbuilding industry suggesting land for a maritime cluster, adoption of DG Shipping rules by the Captain of Ports, request for a dedicated jetty on the seaside of both the bridges on the river Mandovi and Zuari, among other recommendations.
