CII-Goa, Info Tech Corp sign MOU for start-ups

PANAJI: CII-Goa partnered with the state government on Friday with the signing of a MoU with the Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd, (ITG), Altinho.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Rohan Khaunte, Minister for IT, Lalit Saraswat, chairman, CII-Goa, Swati Salgaocar, member, and chief executive, operations, VM Salgaocar & Bros and Pravin Volvotkar, managing director, ITG.

The MOU is to create a platform for start-ups to periodically pitch their business ideas to industrialists and potential investors.

It aims to create a mentor network drawn from CII member companies, and create a structured programme wherein start-ups can benefit from mentorship.

Under the terms of the agreement, ITG will invite local start-ups to solve specific challenges and connect them with resources while, CII will get member companies to back these challenges with resources.

Towards financial assistance, the ITG is likely to give a matching grant to the shortlisted start-ups. Both the CII and ITG are eager to promote mutual cooperation in areas of development of IT and investors for startups, said officials of the organisations.

The non-financial MOU would also undertake skilling of Goan youth by conducting relevant training programmes.

Internship opportunities with member companies will be initiated by CII Goa and the ITG will support interns financially with a stipend subject to the internship completion certified by the corporate HR head of the company.

CII will help to launch Incubation centre in companies with the help of state government

grant.
