Churchill Brothers FC will have to wait to see whether they can play in the All India football Federation (AIFF) I-league after the League Committee, in its meeting on Tuesday, decided to place Churchill brothers request for inclusion to the Emergency Committee which is expected to meet at a later date.

Churchill Brothers FC was relegated to the second Division of the I-league at the end of last season.

“The Committee discussed the request of Churchill Brothers FC, Goa to allow them in the Hero I-League next season which is slated to kick-off in October this year. The Committee considered the request and after due deliberation, the Committee decided to place the issue further to the Emergency Committee who will take the final decision on a later date,” stated an AIFF press release issued at the end of the League Committee deliberations.

“The AIFF Constitutions stipulates that such a decision must be taken by the AIFF Executive committee. Since the Executive committee will not be meeting anytime soon, we have placed the matter with the Emergency committee. The decision of the Emergency committee will have to be ratified by the Executive committee at a later date,” AIFF League Committee chairman Subrata Dutta told The Navhind Times over the phone from New Delhi.

“ The pros and cons of admitting Churchill brothers into the I-league were discussed in the meeting. The Emergency Committee is expected to meet in a few days time,” added Dutta.

AIFF is in a process to formulate a professional as well as an amateur player contract template which is to be circulated amongst the clubs. The same would be enforced in the next edition of league.
