Eight students of Parvatibai Chowgule of Arts and Science College, Margao participated in a four-day National Youth Camp on the theme ‘Ba – Bapu: 150’, organised by UGC sponsored Gandhian Studies Centres, BK Birla College, Kalyan, Mumbai. The camp commemorated 150 years of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi.
The students comprised of Akbar Shaikh, Niraj Gaonkar, Sushanti Naik, Neha Khan, Anita Lamani, Zinat Shaik, Habiba Shaikh and Sachi Naik participated in the camp. All of them pursue Master of Arts (Hindi) at Parvatibai Chowgule of Arts and Science College, Margao.
The program was inaugurated by the chief guest renowned Gandhian, academician, author, former Member of Parliament and vice-chancellor of Jain Vishva Bharati University, Ramjee Singh.
The camp included lectures on Gandhian thoughts, Gandhi and Health, Gandhi and Yoga, Gandhi and Kasturba, Gandhi and Education that covered numerous other thoughts of Gandhi. Resource persons Hubnath Pandey, Rishikesh Mishra, Hemani Sanghavi, Pakhare, Rajan Welukar and Shailesh Srivastav shared their knowledge through lectures.
Besides the lectures, the camp included activities like yoga, a movie screening on Gandhi and Mumbai city tour. Participants were toured to Mani Bhavan, a historical museum dedicated to Gandhiji. Students were asked to put up a cultural programme on the third day. Participants from across different states like Rajasthan, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh participated in the camp.
