Bal Bhavan Panaji and its 52 Bal Bhavan Kendras all over Goa had organised summer camps during the months of April and May 2018. As a part of this camp, Bal Bhavan in collaboration with Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa and Kala Academy, Panaji organised ‘Balotsav’, Children’s Festival 2018 on Friday at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy.
During the one-and-a-half month camp, Bal Bhavan offered different activities such as drawing, craft, dance, harmonium, tabla, guitar, singing, clay modelling, creative writing, storytelling etc. Overall 1500 children participated in the camp, out of which 800 children were enrolled in Bal Bhavan Panaji.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest for the function Minister of Social Welfare, Pandurang Madkaikar said: “A teacher does the job of teaching a specific skill to students and later it is the responsibility of students to keep practising that skill until they become perfect.”
At the event, ‘Gomant Bal Bhushan Award’ was presented to Tanisha Shenvi Maujekar, Somdatta Gaonkar, Nitesh Naik and Siddhi Gawade. And ‘Best Bal Bhavan Kendra Award’ was given to Bal Bhavan Kendra – Chandel, Pernem.
The event consisted of a cultural programme wherein about 800 students from 52 Bal Bhavan centres across Goa showcased their skills in dance, songs, drama and music. The programme included an exhibition of art and craft, clay modelling items prepared by the children.
Also present was chairperson of Bal Bhavan, Sheetal Naik.
