A sitting panch of Chicalim village panchayat and an opponent in the 2017 panchayat polls to ward 7 allegedly came to blows over the work of fogging in the area.
Vasco police have registered cross complaints in this regard.
Panch member Supresh Mayekar, representing ward 7, has lodged a complaint against Archana Kori, Mahesh Kori and Paul Dias, three residents of Assoi Dongri stating that at around 5 pm on December 11 at Assoi Dongri, they with their common intention abused him with filthy words while he was discharging his lawful duties as a public servant.
The complainant further said that three assaulted him with slaps and blows and that he lost his gold chain worth Rs 50,000 during the tussle. He also claimed that the accused persons later assaulted his brother Shailesh Mayekar with fist blows and slaps causing him simple injuries. In this connection, Vasco police have registered an offence under sections A504, 354, 327, 427 read with 34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police sub-inspector Ritesh Tari is investigating the case.
Meanwhile, Archana Kori also has lodged a complaint with Vasco police, stating that Supresh Mayekar abused her in filthy language and thereby outraged her modesty. She further said that the panch member assaulted her causing injury to her finger. Police have registered an offence against the panch member under sections 509, 323 of IPC. Head Constable Santosh Bhatkar is investigating the case.
