Chemists strike on September 28

PANAJI: Chemists and pharmacists in the state will be shut on September 28, due to a one-day bandh call given by the All India Organisation for Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD). The bandh will commence from midnight of September 27 till midnight of September 28, to protest against the sale of medicines through e-portals. “Intimation of the strike is already been sent to the health department, the FDA and the collector, North Goa,” said Albert De Sa, president, CDAG. He said that, the association has asked staff of all chemist stores to tie a black ribbon on their right arm from Monday till the day of strike to show their protest against online sale of medicines through e-pharmacies. CDAG has also asked its members to stock medicines in advance so that residents are not put to any inconvenience. NT
