Chandor’s 5 goals lead them to finals

Cuncolim: Chandor SC stunned Parish Youth, Nuvem 5-0 to enter the final of Yaari Cup football tournament played at Cuncolim grounds on Sunday. Playing an attacking style in both the sessions, Chandor Club went on a rampage and scored at will.

Chandor’s striker Moses De Sa opened the scoring for his team in the fourth minute when he dispatched a curling free kick to beat the Parish Youth keeper Shawn Rodrigues from 20 yards.

Parish Youth, Nuvem thereafter improved their game by a few notches but could not do much upfront as the team concentrated mostly on defending rather that playing an attacking game.

Chandor made the score 2-0 through Sunny Fernandes in the 34th minute when attacking medio Socoro Fernandes laid a smart pass to him.

On resumption, Chandor went into top gear and scored three more goals.

It was during this spell when striker Moses De Sa completed his brace in the 45th minute when Sunny Fernandes sent a defence splitting pass to him.

Frazer Gomes, the other attacking medio of Chandor made the score 4-0 after Sunny Fernandes once again provided the ball to him on a platter to romp it home in style.

The last nail was struck by Sunny Fernandes himself in the 65th minute to register a huge 5-0 win when Moses who worked on the left flank, sent a sling pass to him to beat the rival keeper with ease.

Parish Youth, Nuvem defence was completely in shambles in the second session and could not stop the goal hungry Chandor strikers from finding the mark.

Chandor Club now meet Snows Football Academy in the final which is to be played on Sept 2.
