Chandor pound five past a defenceless SJD Areal

A brace of goals by Luis Noronha and a goal each by Irfan Edward, Sunny Fernandes and Lino D’Sa enabled Chandor Club to thrash Sao Jose de Areal 5-0 and enter the quarterfinals of Yaari Cup football tournament played at Cuncolim grounds on Thursday.

Playing an attacking game, Chandor Club surged into the lead in the 5th minute when Irfan Edward unleashed a 25-yard powerful shot to stun Sao Jose de Areal keeper Joseph Monteiro.

Very soon in the 8th minute, Luis Noronha headed home from a cross dispatched by Irfan to buttress the lead for Chandor Club.

Chandor Club who dominated the first half proceedings could have scored two more goals soon thereafter, but the good tries off Irfan just missed the mark narrowly.

Chandor Club scored their third goal in the 19th minute through an angular shot taken by Sunny Fernandes off a pass from Luis Noronha. The second session began under control of Chandor Club during which time medio Leno D’Sa bulged the nets in style.

Within two minutes from the goal, Luis Noronha completed his brace for the day when he dodged two rival defenders and blasted the ball into the net beating the Areal keeper.

On the otherhand, Chandor defence managed by Cruz Gomes and company gave a good account of themselves while midfield marshalled by Moses and company sent defence splitting passes for the strikers to score goals at will.
