Chief officer of Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) Kapil Phadte on Friday issued show cause notices to all the ice cream parlours located in the Curchorem market over the internal illegal constructions.
Acting on the complaints received from some parents regarding the “misuse of the ice cream parlours,” police inspector of Curchorem police station had written a letter to the chief officer requesting him to inspect the parlour premises in Curchorem market and initiate action over “the illegalities.”
Acting on the police complaint, the chief officer had deputed junior engineer and market inspector to inspect all the ice cream parlours in the Curchorem market.
The junior engineer in his report has stated that majority of the ice cream parlors have carried out internal changes illegally and made plywood compartments, mezzanine floor etc.
Acting on the report, the chief officer issued show cause notices to all the ice cream parlors in Curchorem market.
In the show cause notices, it has been stated that “during the inspection carried out officials of the council it has been observed that you have made internal changes illegal in the shop without obtaining prior permission of the council thereby violating Section 184(8) of the Goa Municipal Act 1968.
The chief officer has directed the parlor owners to show cause with documentary evidence as to why the said construction should not be demolished as per Section 184 of municipality Act or the construction should not be sealed as per Section 184(A) of Municipalities Act.
