MARGAO: The South Goa recorded over 80 per cent voting on the polling day, slightly more than what was registered during the last assembly elections held in the year 2007.

VASCO: The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr Ravindra Yadav, on Saturday, informed that the Vasco police inspector (PI), Mr Francisco Corte, has been placed under suspension, pending enquiries against him, with immediate effect in view of using abusive language against the scribes of electronic and print media while handling a tense situation at Chhotta Bazaar in Baina.

PANAJI: Stating that high voting percentage did not mean anti-Congress vote, the working president of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), Mr Francisco Sardinha, expressed confidence that Congress would get a majority in the election and be able to form the government.

MARGAO: The polling passed off peacefully in Velim on Saturday despite apprehensions that the locals and the parishioners together would boycott the polls in  protest against the ‘raids’ conducted by income tax and police officials on the parish priest of the St Francis Xavier church  recently.

PANAJI: Voters, young and senior were given a morning bonanza of Rs1,000, some Rs500  after casting their votes at the Mahila Nutan School located in Comba Margao.
