Market vendors, consumers feel the heat of truckers’ stir

MARGAO: Markets across the state witnessed a hike in vegetable prices on Monday with low-spending consumers giving them a slip.
Most of the 150-odd vegetable stalls at Gandhi Market, Margao’s famous vegetable market remained shut during the second half of the day due to vegetable shortage owing to stoppage of supply from Belgaum since Sunday midnight.

Govt not to budge an inch on provisions blockade

PONDA: The Minister for Water Resources, Mr Dayanand Mandrekar on Sunday said that the state government will not budge an inch on the provisions blockade by the transporters from Maharashtra and Karnataka even as he said that Goa needs to get back to agriculture and become self-sufficient.

MARGAO:   A tanker carrying 20 tonne naphtha   overturned on Sunday at Birmeapedd, Balli causing leakage, which panicked  the people in the  area. However, no causality was reported in the incident.
