State govt to introduce new police bill

PANAJI: With the President of India returning the police bill passed by the Goa assembly to the House, the state government has decided to introduce altogether a new police bill in the upcoming session of the state legislative assembly, scheduled to begin from January 31.

12,500 computers for students likely by March

PANAJI: The government will soon distribute computers to around 12,500 students from various institutions around the state.

Rape case: bail denied to Fernandes

MARGAO: The South Goa additional district and sessions judge, Ms Vijaya Pol on Saturday rejected the bail application of local politician John Fernandes, who is accused of raping a 25-year-old Russian woman at Colva in December 2009.
