NIA chargesheets 11 in Margao blast case

MARGAO/VASCO: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday issued charge sheets to 11 Sanatan Sanstha members in the Diwali eve Margao blast case that claimed two lives but did not directly indict the right-wing organisation for the crime in which the accused have been charged with waging war against India.

Goan students to get 50% NIT seats

PANAJI: The students from Goa, Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep will be ensured admissions to 50 per cent of the total 90 seats at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), which will begin functioning at its temporary campus in the Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi from the academic year 2010-2011.

Ravi highlights need for women’s education

GSHC HQ to boost horticultural activities

PANAJI: The proposed two-floor headquarter building of the Goa State Horticultural Corporation (GSHC) at Tonca, for which foundation stone would be laid by the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat on May 21 will help the corporation to launch several of its programmes, including being a service provider to states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, for export of fruits from these states to other countries.

Nirankal-Bethora VP refuses NOC to PMC

PONDA: The sarpanch of Nirankal-Bethora, Mr Baburao Salelkar informed the press on Monday that the panchayat has refused to accede to the request, forwarded by the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC), asking the panchayat permission to dump its garbage in the Nirankal-Codar area, for another three months.
