Pacheco anticipates bold decisions by NCP top leadership

Biometric scanners find favour with Margao civic body

MARGAO: It seems that the Margao Municipality will opt for biometric scanners in lieu of CCTVs to monitor the working habits of the municipal staff. According to the chairperson of Margao Municipal Council, Ms Sushila Naik, the cost for setting up CCTVs is too high. When questioned on the corruption issue, Ms Naik said: "I will keep a watch personally. I will also rotate the personnel so as to see that corruption is kept under control."

SJSRY scheme has no takers in Valpoi

VALPOI: The innovative scheme, Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY), which was initiated by the government for the welfare of financially weaker section of society living in municipal areas, has no takers in Valpoi, with not even a single application being received by the Valpoi Municipality, in the last seven years.
