The panchayat body of Carmona, which recently got a newly-elected sarpanch, is finding it difficult to put the administration of the village back on the track with the absence of a full-time secretary.
Speaking to this daily, sarpanch Allwyn Jorge said that since taking over, it has been very difficult to manage smooth functioning of the panchayat. “The efforts of Carmona panchayat to put its administration back on the track have hit a roadblock due to absence of a full-time secretary. The administration of the panchayat has come to a standstill,” he said.
Jorge said that the directorate of panchayats and the BDO’s office have been made known about the situation. “The DoP and the BDO have been briefed about the panchayat functioning that has taken a hit due to lack of a full-time secretary and written representation will be submitted to both offices for action,” he said.
He also added that the issues of garbage, forming the village development committees (VDC) and preparing the gram panchayat development plans (GPDP) are at the top of the agenda.
“People in the village are suffering because there is no authority to sign daily business transactions. In the meantime, we are planning on how to tackle other problems in the village,” he said.
The panchayat will be organising a special meeting on January 3 with the agenda of tackling the garbage menace facing the village. The meeting, Jorge said, will be held with members of the village garbage committee. Further the ordinary gram sabha is also slated to be held on January 13.
