Campaigning the right to vote


As part of its voters’ awareness campaign, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Goa organised a selfie booth at Mall de Goa, Porvorim. The campaign witnessed a tremendous response as young voters volunteered to take selfies with frames that carried the statement “I am ready to vote”, and the same were uploaded on social media.

The main objective of the programme was to spread awareness about the election procedure and processes, and motivate voters to come out and vote. The visitors present asked several questions which were answered. The election icons and the election officers present appealed to the people to vote fearlessly. They also encouraged the public to make use of voter helpline number: 1950, National Voters’ Service Portal (NVSP) and Election Commission of India (ECI) voter helpline app for updates, rectification of names in the e-roll, EPIC status, connecting to the election machinery, registration of complaints and other poll-related issues.

State election icons Tapen Acharya, Pradip Naik and John Aguiar were present at the event along with assistant electoral registration officer, Rajaram Parab; mamlatdar, Laxmikant Kuttikar; joint mamlatdar Sandeep Gaude; joint mamlatdar Jennifer Arez and other election officials.
