The Ajobachi jatra was celebrated on January 29 at the Ajoba temple situated at the Keri beach.

It is believed that the ‘ajoba’ is a ‘jagrut devastan’ and so thousands of people come to the Ajoba temple on the day of the ‘jatra’. The temple is beautifully decorated and arrangements to accommodate the large number of devotees are made.
Though there is at least one ‘jatra’ celebrated in almost every village of Goa, not all of them are as famous as the Bodgeshwar jatra of Mapusa, the Lairai jatra of Shirgao and the Ajobachi jatra of Keri.
Devotees come from various parts of Maharashtra’ including Mumbai’ for the Ajobachi jatra and it is the Talkar family which plays a vital role in the preparations of this jatra.
