PANAJI: Vijai Marine Service has delivered to Vaibhavi Shipping Pvt. Ltd, Vasco a 2500 DWT iron ore-cum-coal carrier barge M V Abhilakhsi built in 68 days in Goa’s tiny but booming shipbuilding industry, meeting highest ship building standards of Indian Register of Shipping with Notations IWL, 31IY, Zone I, RLLC strengthen for heavy cargoes, single hold, 2650 cu mts hold capacity.

The vessel built at Vijai Marine Yard, at Rassaim, Loutolim, is equipped with relevant infrastructure and in-house machine shop for stem gear equipments and other related marine systems. Mr Jairam Dialani said the company has been building for the last 20 years, various types of marine vessels. Vijai Marine has built and delivered total seven barges, six ferries and repaired six ferries in 110 days during fiscal year 2009-10, contributing over Rs 2.10 crores to State exchequer by way of V AT and other service tax, said a press release.
