PANAJI: Timblo Drydocks delivered the first of 10 interceptor crafts to the Indian Coast Guard at a ceremony on Tuesday, as per a press release issued here. The 9.8-metre boat was built at the FRP facility of Timblo Drydocks in Xelvona.
During the sea trials, the boat attained a top speed of 37 knots against the contractual requirement of 32 knots in fully loaded conditions. The IC is designed to intercept suspicious ships, trawlers etc that could be a threat to the Indian coast. It is equipped with ballistic protection from AK 47 rifles besides other safety and life-saving equipment.
